Absolutely not. ModernMT is not shutting down — it is evolving into Lara Translate. The technology, the team, and the mission behind ModernMT all continue under the Lara Translate platform. This is an upgrade, not a shutdown. Your account, data, and workflows are coming with you.

Will my Translation Memories and glossaries be lost?

Zero data loss. All your Translation Memories and glossaries will be migrated to your new Lara Translate account.

How do I update my Trados Studio or memoQ plugin?

Uninstall the ModernMT plugin from your CAT tool, then install the official Lara Translate plugin from the RWS AppStore (Trados) or memoQ plugin store. Enter your Lara API key when prompted. A dedicated step-by-step guide is available in the Help Center. The process takes under 5 minutes.

I am a new user looking for ModernMT. Where do I sign up?

New registrations on ModernMT.com are now closed. Create your account directly at laratranslate.com/signup. You will have access to the same adaptive MT technology — plus multiple AI models, CAT tool plugins, and support for 203 languages.

Will my day-to-day workflow change after migrating?

Your core workflow stays almost identical. The only action required is updating your CAT tool plugin if you use Trados Studio or memoQ. Beyond that, the adaptive translation workflow you know continues — with higher quality output, faster processing, and new features available whenever you choose to use them.

What happened to ModernMT?

ModernMT did not shut down. Translated — the Rome-based language technology company that developed ModernMT in 2016 — evolved the platform into Lara Translate in 2026.

Is Lara Translate the same as ModernMT?

Lara Translate and ModernMT are both products of Translated. Lara Translate is the direct successor to ModernMT — not a competitor. It extends ModernMT's core adaptive translation technology with purpose-built AI models, Trados Studio and memoQ plugins, 203 supported languages, 72 file formats, and native integrations in productivity environments.
