Personal Data Processing Policy
We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal data. Therefore, we use your personal data strictly within the legal limits of the applicable data protection laws.
This policy is provided pursuant to article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter the "Regulation") by Translated s.r.l., headquartered in Rome (RM), Via Indonesia no. 23, VAT number IT07173521001, email: info@translated.com (hereinafter the "Company"), in order to present the purposes and methods with which personal data shall be processed, the categories of the data being processed, the rights granted to parties subject to data processing as well as the methods for exercising them with respect to the Lara service.
The following information refers exclusively to the processing of personal data concerning Lara customers and parties subject to data processing pursuant to article 4 (1) of the Regulation; however, any personal data that may be included in content submitted to Lara Translate for translation, whether via document upload, text input, API, integrations, or other interactions with the service, is processed solely on behalf of the customer, who acts as the independent data controller. In such cases, Lara acts as a data processor, and the processing is governed by our Data Processing Addendum and may involve Sub-processors approved by the customer in accordance with the Data Processing Addendum, as listed at Sub-processors and Data Processing Locations
1 Categories of personal data processed
Lara may process the following categories of personal data (hereinafter also "Data"):
- Personal data, such as given names, last names;
- Contact information, such as addresses, and email addresses;
- Fiscal data, such as tax codes, VAT numbers, or their equivalents;
- Data related to the use of the service, such as the types of packages purchased, the purchase volume, the frequency with which the service is used, etc.
The provision of the aforementioned data is required to enable you to create an account and use the services offered by Lara, including translation services.
However, any personal data potentially contained in documents sent to Lara for machine translation, where the customer acts as an independent data controller, is excluded under this policy. This means that Lara does not control or process personal data contained within those documents for any purpose other than providing the translation service as directed by the customer.
The provision of the aforementioned data is required in order to enable you to create an account and use the services offered by Lara.
Lara may also incorporate payment systems provided directly by third parties (e.g. Stripe). For payments made through these systems, third-party providers, as independent data controllers, may process your personal data related to the payment methods used in accordance with the provisions of the separate privacy policy provided directly by these parties.
2 Purpose and legal basis of data processing
2.1 Execution of the contract
The processing of the personal data referenced in points (i), (ii), (iii), and (iv) of paragraph 1 above is performed by Lara in order to enable you to access the service and manage your account.
This personal data is, therefore, processed to execute the contract, pursuant to article 6, paragraph 1, subparagraph b) of the Regulation and for compliance with accounting and tax laws pursuant to article 6, paragraph 1, subparagraph c) of the Regulation.
2.2 Sending marketing communications
With your specific consent, Lara may process the personal data referenced in points (i) and (ii) of paragraph 1 above to send advertising material or marketing communications, including communications that may feature information about Lara’s technology partners (co-marketing), provided that such communications are sent exclusively by Lara and no personal data is shared with such third parties, related to promotions or for market research. Such communications may be sent through the use of automated systems (e.g. email, push notifications).
The consent given may also be withdrawn at any time with regard specifically to automated contact systems by writing to support@laratranslate.com.
The data referenced in points (i) and (ii) of paragraph 1 above, acquired in the context of providing Lara services, may be used to send marketing communications related to services similar to the ones provided, pursuant to article 130 of Legislative Decree No. 196 of June 30th, 2003 (so-called "Soft spam"). You may, however, object to this processing at any time by following the instructions indicated on each occasion in any communication sent for this purpose, or by writing to support@laratranslate.com.
2.3 Disclosure of data to third parties for their own marketing purposes
Lara does not share your personal data with third parties for the purpose of allowing them to send you their own marketing communications.
If in the future Lara intends to share personal data with third parties for their independent marketing activities, this will only occur with your explicit and separate consent, and the Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly before any such processing takes place.
2.4 Use of Google Workspace APIs (Lara Translate for Google Sheets™)
Lara Translate for Google Sheets™ accesses Google Workspace user data (specifically content in Google Sheets™ cells) solely to provide translation and evaluation services, as explicitly initiated by the user. We do not store, reuse, share, or process this data for advertising, analytics, or AI model training.
Lara Translate for Google Sheets™ complies with Google’s API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements for Google Workspace APIs and Limited Use requirements for Google Photos APIs.
3 Processing methods
The personal data referenced in paragraph 1 above shall be processed both manually and electronically in compliance with the provisions of the Regulation, Italian legislation regarding the processing of personal data, and the applicable provisions of the Italian Data Protection Authority.
4 Data retention period
The personal data referenced in paragraph 1 above shall be processed for the period required to offer you the services requested and in any case until the termination of your contractual relationship with Lara and the final cancellation of your account.
Your data related to the contract entered into with Lara shall also be retained for a time corresponding to the normal limitation period (i.e., 10 years) exclusively in order to comply with legal obligations and for requirements related to the potential protection of Lara's rights.
The personal data referenced in points (i) and (ii) of paragraph 1 above shall be processed to send marketing communications until you withdraw your consent. For soft spam, your personal data shall be processed until you exercise your right to object to the processing. With regard to the disclosure of data to third parties for their own marketing purposes, we notify you that the data may be disclosed until you withdraw your consent, where applicable.
5 Categories of recipients and scope of data movement
In addition to the parties indicated in paragraph 2.3 above, the personal data referenced in paragraph 1 above may be disclosed to third parties that Lara uses to carry out certain processing operations. These parties shall be appointed Data Processors pursuant to article 28 of the Regulation and shall receive the proper operating instructions, with particular reference to the adoption of appropriate security measures, in order to guarantee the confidentiality and security of the data. A list of these data processors may be requested from Lara by parties subject to data processing by writing to support@laratranslate.com.
Lara may also disclose your personal data to potential third-party assignees of the contract or the company in order to continue to provide the services requested by you.
Your data shall not be disclosed in any way to any other unspecified parties.
6 Rights of parties subject to data processing
We notify you that you, in your capacity as the party subject to data processing, may exercise the rights provided for in articles 15 to 23 of the Regulation by writing to Lara at the following address: support@laratranslate.com.
Specifically, you may:

- Withdraw the consent previously given in the cases established in this policy.
We remind you that you may file a complaint with regard to the processing of your data by contacting the appropriate supervisory authority (in Italy, the Italian Data Protection Authority).
7 Use of Cookies and Similar Technologies
7.1 What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device and remember information about your visit — such as your preferred language or login status — making your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.
7.2 How we use cookies?
Lara's services and platforms may use cookies and similar tracking technologies. Consent for non-essential cookies is collected and managed through Cookiebot by Usercentrics, a Consent Management Platform (CMP) that allows you to accept, refuse, or customise your preferences by category.
Your consent applies across the related domains covered by our cross-domain consent configuration. A complete and regularly updated list of all cookies in use — including their names, providers, purposes, and expiration dates — is available in our Cookie Declaration, maintained and automatically updated by Cookiebot.
7.3 Categories of cookies used
Necessary cookies (always active)
These cookies are strictly required for Lara’s services to function correctly and cannot be switched off in our system. They enable core functions such as navigation, secure area access, and the basic operation of the service. Because they are essential, they are set without requiring your prior consent, on the legal basis of legitimate interest and/or performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
Preference cookies
Preference cookies allow Lara’s services to remember choices you have previously made — such as your preferred language or region — in order to provide a more personalised experience. These cookies are set only with your prior consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Statistics cookies
Statistics cookies help us understand how users interact with our services by collecting and reporting information anonymously. This enables us to improve the structure and content of our offerings. These cookies are set only with your prior consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites in order to display advertisements that are relevant and engaging for each individual user, making them more valuable for publishers and third-party advertisers. They are placed by our advertising and social media partners, who may combine the information with other data you have provided or that has been collected through your use of their services. These cookies are set only with your explicit prior consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, and Italian Legislative Decree No. 69/2012 implementing Directive 2009/136/EC — the ePrivacy Directive).
Unclassified cookies
Unclassified cookies are cookies that we are currently in the process of classifying together with the providers of individual cookies. Until their classification is complete, these cookies are treated as requiring consent.
7.4 Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit laratranslate.com, a cookie consent banner will appear, allowing you to accept all cookies, customise your preferences by category, or allow only strictly necessary cookies.
You can review or withdraw your consent at any time through either of the following:
You can review or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking on “Cookie preferences” or “Manage Cookies”, accessible from within Lara’s services. Both options reopen the consent panel where you can modify your selections by category.
Please note that disabling certain categories of cookies may affect the functionality and your experience of Lara’s services. In particular, some marketing cookies are required to load third-party widgets embedded in our platforms — such as the live support chat. If you disable marketing cookies, features like the support chat may not be available, and you may need to contact us through alternative channels (e.g., support@laratranslate.com).
7.5 Third-party cookies
Some cookies are placed directly by third-party services that appear on our pages or within the application (e.g., analytics providers, advertising networks, social media platforms). These third parties act as independent data controllers and may process the data collected through their cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
A complete, up-to-date list of all third-party cookie providers and the cookies they set is available in our Cookie Declaration.
7.6 Retention period for cookies
The retention period varies by cookie type. Session cookies expire automatically when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period — unless deleted earlier by you — ranging typically from a few days to two years. The exact duration for each individual cookie is listed in our Cookie Declaration.
8 Changes to the Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised policy on our website. We encourage you to periodically review this page to stay informed about how we are protecting your data. Your continued use of the Lara service after any changes signifies your acceptance of the revised policy.
